Barber's Insect Project

Barber was required to create his own insect - including a 3-D image of it.  He decided that he wanted to make a cake so the whole class could enjoy his project as well.  Their guidelines were it had to have a head, thorax and abdomen.  Needed to have insect eyes, antennae and 6 legs from the thorax.  He went with his favorite team colors - red and blue for the NY Giants. Mommy was allowed to help as needed but I took more of the facilitator role.  This is his project and he was going to do it.

Pouring in the ingredients to mix - this cake wasn't from scratch.  I'll teach him that another day.

Three segments of his insect - chocolate is his favorite!

I outlined the areas according to his sketch...then allowed him to begin icing

Blue is done.  Now he is preparing the red icing.

He had a lot of fun - and the class enjoyed it too.  Pictures provide evidence of his work and we don't have to worry about storing anything.  Love that too!

He called it The Llebpamc Split.  Can you figure out how he came up with that name?
